(Solved)Saab 2008 9-3 Aero TTid with a fault

Car model and year: Saab 2008 9-3 Aero TTid

Errors:
It won't rev from cold at all for about a minute, then sound to pick up a bit and does fine. It has no power and will pull gently but then when pushed come up with limited performance.
It also says dpf full, it has been apparently from before I got it on the last 2 mots, I have taken it off, cleaned it through and back on, still says it, no fault codes read on my generic obd tool that is quite good with other Saabs so a but stuck to what may be wrong.

GM Tech2 yes:
Maybe the ECU is stuck in a regen loop and hasn't been able to complete, or you could have a DPF sensor problem
Need to get the feedback from GM Tech2 to see what the pressure values are and then probably force a regen with Tech2 to set
a baseline with the ECU.

It is sure GM Tech2 work well with SAAB 9-3.
but you have to have a Saab Card installed which you can buy and do yourself. And if you have a 2003,4 or 5 you will have to have a newer card and a candi adapter and if you have a 06 or above you have to go on line and pay by the hour.
The candi adapter is packed with the GM TECH2 and the card is about 22USD.

Where to have GM Tech2?

Opcom yes:
Might be worth trying Opcom as its cheap and plays well with the TID's not so sure re TTID though.
Opcom will work mostly OK with TTid's too.

CM Tech2 Review: TIS2000 Installation Solutions

I bought a gm tech 2 which can diagnose vehicle by myself. I had been confused by various car problems in a long time, because I could not figure out them myself sometimes and tired of service departments not knowing what’s going on.

Sometimes I feel that I’m actually even smarter than most techs that work in the service departments at dealerships. And if I’m not any smarter, at least I’ll care more, and take the time to figure it out because it’s my own vehicle.

I had looked through lots of diagnostic tools, GM tech 2 diagnostic scan tool seemed the best one of them and so it is.

I received the tool with TIS2000 CD for TECH2 GM Car Model Software which can support for till 2007 year GM car programming.

The Tech 2 unit (handset) can be used to interrogate the various management modules on the car (ECU) to report status, fault codes and perform manual activation and monitoring in the event of fault occurrences/engine management light occurrences. This in itself is incredibly useful, but it is also possible to reprogram modules within the car to change various functions and add or replace faulty modules and programme keys. Whilst the diagnosis side can be performed standalone, to be able to actually change settings on the car, Tech 2 ‘Security Access’ is required, which means activating the Tech 2 handset via PC software.
Tech 2 unit

Software installed:

Install the GM TIS2000 application (needs to be Windows XP, 32-bit operating system). There are normally two discs. One is the app, the other is the GM update disc, which is not required. If this is the case, install the first disc only but don’t run up the application on completion. If you didn’t get it with a clone, you can get a copy with the USB dongle. If prompted to select a registration method, select USB Key and OK the prompts.
All that is now required is to activate the software to get security access (enable Tech 2 programming). To do this you’ll need a USB key and patch available from the same sources as the clone Tech 2 units.

There is a video:

Hardware issues:

You can check you have RS232 COMMS using the GM TIS2000 install and going into the Tech 2 View option. Don’t mess about with serial port settings etc as if there is a physical connection there it will work without interference. pins 4 and 5 of the RS485&RS232 socket are actually used.

Genuine Tech2 PCMCIA card vs. generic ATA card

Some guys want to BIN files onto blank cards. Here, i will share to enlighten you to what the differences are between a genuine Tech2 PCMCIA and a generic ATA card.
genuine Tech2 PCMCIA card vs. generic ATA card:
There are two primary types of flash memory architectures: linear and ATA. Both conform to PCMCIA form factors and can be used interchangeably in existing PC Card slots or drivers.
Linear Flash memory stores and sends data in a linear fashion (in Byte or double Byte format). To be able to transfer data into blocks (like ATA technology), so that the card appears like a hard drive, Linear Flash requires a software layer called Flash File System.
ATA Flash mimics the file structure of an ATA hard drive. It features an on-card controller which handles error correction coding, bad-block mapping, dynamic adjustment of performance versus power consumption, extensive self-testing and diagnostics and data access functions. This means that a card with an ATA controller appears like a hard drive to virtually any mainstream personal computer operating system.
In short, the most important difference is:
ATA cards won’t work. An ATA card is like a giant sd card or USB drive.
The linear flash cards don’t get recognized by the CPU like that.
For me:
– The restoring card:
You can buy generic linear flash cards on eBay for like $70
This is what I did for a spare. Same place I ordered my unit from. Cheaper than eBay.
I used the card making software mce in a laptop, but you can order it from China with the software you want already loaded.
So far,  I am happy with it, the card took a few weeks. The unit was 2 to 3 days and a guy recommended them on the duramax forum. I have a duramax and the Pontiac g8. I am happy. Works great, I would recommend again.
– Tech2 scan tool
For the Tech 2, there are 3 different units, look the same.
That is what I found on the site.
SP23-B Best
SP23-C Vetronix
SP23-D Newest
I did the SP23-B. From what I was able translate they are made by different companies but the same….
I went with the best as it was a little cheaper. I am happy with what I got. If I did it again and money wasn’t an issue, I would buy one with the American warranty.
